Biking Sunday at the CCP

Last Sunday, the husband woke us up to tell us that we will all go biking.  It's quite a treat since he usually goes with officemates and friends for biking as far as La Mesa Dam or at Fort Bonifacio or at Camp Aguinaldo. So off we go but first we had a take-out breakfast at Jollibee and proceeded to Cartimar to have Aj's bike repaired.

He initially thought that Mall of Asia would be a great place to bike around but it was so open and the sun was already up when we got there, he decided that CCP grounds would be a much better place. Indeed , when we got there,  there were two other families who were setting up chairs under trees. Parking is P35 for the first three hours.

Sometime ago, I've read about the opening of Green lanes in CCP but it didn't quite registered since I was not into biking myself.  I probably would, if i have the small ,foldable type but I am content with just walking. Anyway, we noticed posters like the one below  plastered on some trees in the CCP grounds. Apparently, the 3.5 km green lane that stretches from Roxas Boulevard to Macapagal boulevard was launched last September 12, 2010 with a 7k Fun Bike-Run led by celebrity cyclists.

According to the press release i got from Angkulet.com, The CCP Green Lane aims to help in the reduction of carbon emission, promotes the use of bicycles for work and leisure and hopes to establish the CCP as a sanctuary for culture, nature and health in the city.  The Green  Lane is part of CCP's  "Luntiang Lungsod, Luntian Sining"(Green City, Green Arts) campaign along with Haribon Foundation, Winner Foundation, Department of Tourism, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Navy , Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Dragon Boat Federation, Manila Broadcasting Corporation, GMA-7 Network, Net 25 Feed Your Mind, Tanggol Kalikasan, Harbor Square, and the Firefly Brigade as its partners.  It was sponsored by Boysen Philippines, INC.

I'm glad, we went there with the bikes and the stroller. It was a truly fun, active family bonding.  Aj finally agreed to take off one of the training wheel in her bike.  Maggie the baby, was content in sleeping in her stroller enjoying the cool breeze.  Abby was in her usual bubbly self. I did try the husband's bike but it was too high for me, and as i said, i will settle for the foldable one next time we go to Cartimar. he he

Lunch was at Dencio's, Harbor Square.  It's like the perfect place to laze away the afternoon except that it started to rain and we needed to go home. And then we slept. Thank you husband. Praise You , God Almighty. Moments like these are treasures.
