The Morning After...

This morning i had an appointment with Dr. Arcales, resident OB-Gyne at SM Megaclinic. I wanted a prescription for an emergency contraceptive but she said that it is not available here in the Philippines. Sure, I'm toying with the idea of another baby maybe a boy if it could be arranged but not now. My Maggie is still 9 month's old and i really wanted her to be at least 2 years old before we consider having another one. I want to enjoy Maggie and for her to have most of my attention. But well, we sort of threw caution to the wind last night and however much we regret the "recklessness", well the deed is done.

So i was like, what do we do now. The husband suggested maybe i can buy a pill from Mercury to prevent pregnancy. I researched a bit and found out there are several choices out there. It's only when i searched of a particular emergency contraceptive pill in the Philippines that I came to a wall. Well, there was the Trust pill which i found from the forums but no pill stood out in general, which compelled me to seek a consultation with my OB-Gyne. I also discovered a site which is very useful to all women of child-bearing age. You just input the first day of your last menstruation, and then you will be presented with your ovulation calendar. It marks the days where it would be very unsafe to have sex, days which you would like to have sex if you want a boy or a girl, and so forth. And yes, to my mortification still, I am clearly ovulating yesterday and so my chances of getting pregnant is pretty high.

It is said that ECP's have a window of 72 hours, and i'm going to have my scheduled sono and mammogram tomorrow so maybe i'll still ask my OB-Gyne at MMC if there is still something I can do. I don't think it's abortion. Do you? Although , i never did liked the idea. Still...

So, the last resort is to pray to God Almighty, to not make me pregnant just this instance and instead hear the prayer of those who are not yet pregnant. I truly pray this,...

Can't we have a true showbiz romance please?

Update:

This is just part of an upcoming promotion daw pala. Buti naman!

==========================================================================

It seems another showbiz couple's relationship(Daniel Matsunaga and Heart Evangelista) is going down the drain with the discovery of supposed tobe elevator clip of Daniel Matsunaga flirting with another girl. Apparently, there was a go-see in a certain office to cast model and Daniel was there. They also probably noticed flirting in the air and somebody got curious and got a clip from a cctv.

I hope this is just clip from a movie or something. Sure hope, this is not true. It's disHEARTening to find out your boyfriend flirting with another girl when you were just saying that he is even intent on changing his citizenship just for you. Can't we have decent, faithful men actors please?

Libra before but Virgo Now...

Just read this now that a new set of Zodiac sign dates was revealed recently as reported by Minnesota based Star Tribune.  Apparently, each symbol's covered dates was being moved a month due to the moon's gravitational pull that "woobbled" the earth's rotation on its axis recently, astrologer's say.

So yesterday I was a Libra, today I woke up a Virgo!  Just found it funny that even zodiacs could change.
Constellation of Libra from Allthesky.com

Virgo Constellation from Allthesky.com

To quote from Manila Bulletin news feed :

“The ancient Babylonians based zodiac signs on the constellation the sun was ‘in’ on the day a person was born. During the ensuing millenniums, the moon's gravitational pull has made the Earth "wobble" around its axis, creating about a one-month bump in the stars' alignment,” Star Tribune’s Bill Ward noted.

A blog post on the Washington Post website have also shed light on this matter, citing the explanation provided by Park Kunkle, a board member of the Minnesota Planetarium Society.

“The moon's gravitational pull has slowly moved the Earth in its axis, creating about a one-month bump in the stars' alignment... Now, during what we think as the month of Pisces, the sun is actually in the sign of Aries…”
Thus the adjustment of zodiac dates as follows:
Capricorn: January 20-February 16
Aquarius: February 16-March 11
Pisces: March 11-April 18
Aries: April 18-May 13
Taurus: May 13-June 21
Gemini: June 21-July 20
Cancer: July 20-August 10
Leo: August 10-September 16
Virgo: September 16-October 30
Libra: October 30-November 23
Scorpio: November 23-December 17
Sagittarius: December 17-January 20

Kunkle added that science has not proven a clear connection between the stars and the universe and its direct affects on people’s character and behavior. “Sure, we can connect harvest to the stars. But personality? No.”
"Historically, people looked at the sky to understand the world around us," he said. "But today I don't think people who are into astrology look at the sky very much."

I felt lazy writing so i just  copied MB's news feed. What say you bout the stars?hmmnn...

Biking Sunday at the CCP

Last Sunday, the husband woke us up to tell us that we will all go biking.  It's quite a treat since he usually goes with officemates and friends for biking as far as La Mesa Dam or at Fort Bonifacio or at Camp Aguinaldo. So off we go but first we had a take-out breakfast at Jollibee and proceeded to Cartimar to have Aj's bike repaired.

He initially thought that Mall of Asia would be a great place to bike around but it was so open and the sun was already up when we got there, he decided that CCP grounds would be a much better place. Indeed , when we got there,  there were two other families who were setting up chairs under trees. Parking is P35 for the first three hours.

Sometime ago, I've read about the opening of Green lanes in CCP but it didn't quite registered since I was not into biking myself.  I probably would, if i have the small ,foldable type but I am content with just walking. Anyway, we noticed posters like the one below  plastered on some trees in the CCP grounds. Apparently, the 3.5 km green lane that stretches from Roxas Boulevard to Macapagal boulevard was launched last September 12, 2010 with a 7k Fun Bike-Run led by celebrity cyclists.

According to the press release i got from Angkulet.com, The CCP Green Lane aims to help in the reduction of carbon emission, promotes the use of bicycles for work and leisure and hopes to establish the CCP as a sanctuary for culture, nature and health in the city.  The Green  Lane is part of CCP's  "Luntiang Lungsod, Luntian Sining"(Green City, Green Arts) campaign along with Haribon Foundation, Winner Foundation, Department of Tourism, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Navy , Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Dragon Boat Federation, Manila Broadcasting Corporation, GMA-7 Network, Net 25 Feed Your Mind, Tanggol Kalikasan, Harbor Square, and the Firefly Brigade as its partners.  It was sponsored by Boysen Philippines, INC.

I'm glad, we went there with the bikes and the stroller. It was a truly fun, active family bonding.  Aj finally agreed to take off one of the training wheel in her bike.  Maggie the baby, was content in sleeping in her stroller enjoying the cool breeze.  Abby was in her usual bubbly self. I did try the husband's bike but it was too high for me, and as i said, i will settle for the foldable one next time we go to Cartimar. he he

Lunch was at Dencio's, Harbor Square.  It's like the perfect place to laze away the afternoon except that it started to rain and we needed to go home. And then we slept. Thank you husband. Praise You , God Almighty. Moments like these are treasures.

Addition to My Favorite Vacation Spots

My children and I love spending time at the beach.  Anywhere where there is sand and sea becomes a favorite, but more so when it gives us also the oppurtunity to visit the family.  Iligan is such a place for us.  Iligan with it's bountiful share of natural falls , spring pools and clean beaches is really a magnet for us.  Over the years several private residences have invested to transform their beach residences into private resorts.  One such resort that we have discovered during our recent trip to Iligan last December 2010 is Alta Beach Resort in Linamon, Lanao del Norte. Technically, it's not in Iligan but who's nitpicking right?
It's really only about 15 minutes ride from Iligan City to here.  It has 4 bamboo cottages, 2 airconditioned rooms for an overnight stay, it has ample parking, gated and clean shower and comfort rooms.  It's well-maintained and the caretaker is just around to watch over the place conspicously.

This is the first time that i tested our GE underwater camera which i tell you, by the way, is great. More on that in another post. See how clean the water is..

Wax in, wax out

Since living here in the big city, i have become quite the adventurer. As in trying out new things like getting myself waxed. ha ha...pretty tame for an adventure eh?

Not really. For a probinsyana like me, waxing is like not even included in the priorities. I am not sure even if it is a topic that deserves attention. Yup. So like the first few months here malling, there was so much choices and products that only then did i know that exists. But of particular interest to is how smooth the legs of girls here in the city. ha ha. ang babaw!

Anyway, out of curiosity and envy (ha ha) i bought myself Veet Hair Removal Cream back in 2009 i think and i just opened it now, 8th day of 2011.  It's not expired yet,  by the way.  It just took me that long to find the time and the courage to try it eventhough i,ve already tried being waxed at a salon. So, i did the standard patch test to check for allergic reaction. To be conservative about it, i applied it for only 5 minutes, rinse it off with water and waited for 24 hours to see for any reaction. Thankfully, there was none. Fastforward to now, after applying a not so thick amount on my legs, five minutes after the hairs did come off so i'd rate it a 4/5. Pretty good for a product really but compared to shaving, its much of a hassle yet. So try it for yourself.

Manila Water Hotline 1627

When we came back from the long holidays, we returned to our home without water. Apparently, the Manila Water has disconnected our water supply, padlocked it in fact because we were unable to pay the bill since October which amounted to P2,417.27 as relayed to me by their hotline 1627.  Initially, we didn't have any idea where the offices of Manila Water was so we consulted old reliable google and found their website.

When I called up the hotline, I was told that i can still pay of the due amount at Seven-Eleven plus the reconnection fee which amounted to P400 something. So by 10am yesterday morning, I already paid it and called the hotline immediately after and relayed the receipt number.  Apparently, 7-11 system is online with that of Manila Water that's why the payment was immediately reflected. When I inquired, how long will they be able to send someone to get our water running, they said the standard time is 3-5 days reconnection time. I pleaded if they can expedite it within the day but the only reply was that they already relayed the request to Manila Water. When I asked them if I could have the number of the technical department incharge of the unlocking( in search of a better term), they said that they don't have a number.  After about 2 more calls to their customer service, they told me that i could probably go to their business center to relay my request personally.

So we spent a whole day and night without water and again today.  This morning, i was dropped off at Manila Water service area by the husband located at the corner of United and Mayflower St at Greenfield District near Edsa Central.  Since it was early and there was only one other customer, I was immediately entertained by a certain Mr. Nilo  who told me that i paid in excess of what was due Manila Water even including the reconnection fee.  He then told me that I should have gone directly to the business office after paying so that they could have process the reconnection immediately. We could have spend the night free of asking favor from our next door neighbor for water.  Really, what the heck was the hotline 1627 for if they can't sense the urgency of our request for immediate reconnection when all i could have done is go pay at the business center?  All they tell you was that they already forwarded the request but when Mr Nilo asked his fellow employee if she received a request for reconnection from our account, she said that there was none!

After sitting for about five minutes there, I was told by Mr Nilo and the lady employee he gave the order to that our water supply will be restored within the day. Let's see if it is really as they see it is considering that I was made to fill -up a customer feedback form by Mr Nilo asking about his service.

PS

I went again to the business office to follow up because it was already 4pm and we still didn't have any water only to be told that they already sent someone but that it was opened past 5pm already.  So yeah, this time around they made good on their promise that water service is restored within the day but they could have made it easier for me if they had just given me a number to their office just to follow up. That still sucks!
